Parent Night

Parent night is coming up soon! Ask me to talk to a room full of 6 year olds... yes! A room full of 100 6 year olds- you got it . Yes again! A room full of parents.. ehhh.. Don't get me wrong! I sure can do it! It's just not as personal.  I don't feel like I get to make that connection that I need to start the year. Instead of talking in front of everyone in front of my board, I decided to try an easy parent night!      This year, our registration night and parent night are all rolled into one! That means lots of meeting new faces, lots of questions, and some paperwork! I am excited about meeting all of the parents and any of the students that will come in!      Doing stations this year, will really help the process! I am looking forward to being able to circulate the room and greet all of the parents and students.  I am ready for any easy back to school night!   <You can find the   Parent Night Signs & Forms   in my TPT store!>      Using these signs

Easy First Day of School

So, you’ve gotten your schedule for your new school new year. Gotten your class roster. Labeled all of the cute things. Bought the “game changing Target items” So you’re ready? Right?! Hold up! Wait - you actually get to teach these little darlings soon! Okay- where do I start? I’m sure you’ve gotten some curriculum from your district... if not- figure that out for sure! Then what’s next?! Pacing guide- make sure you have one of those. Most of the time, I have seen those given out by districts. If you didn’t get one, I’m sure a colleague of yours in your grade level has a guide! Ok so.. check check on all of that. But wait, that still doesn’t help you on the first day! The first week! READ CAREFULLY - Routines and procedures! This is where you are headed now! Stop what you are doing and go ahead and think about all of those procedures. And I mean all of them. Coming in in the morning. Folders/ notes. Hanging backpacks. Lunch boxes. Where do students go sit first thi

Morning Tubs

Walking into school at the last minute- totally me! Needing a little time to get myself together in the morning - totally me. You know who else may have been rushed into the school, fed breakfast quickly, told to hurry up and come on. Your students! There are days I do that to my own children. Some mornings are hectic. Okay, most mornings for me are hectic. I just can’t help it 🤦🏼‍♀️ . You know what I can help, having a soft start to the day for everyone! Morning tubs have been by far the best thing I have done in the mornings with my students. There are no worksheets to copy. Or grade. Or hand out. Or to give assistance. Or to have them say “I’m done” with 10 minutes left! Morning tubs are easy to set out. My students generally learn the procedure quickly and will come in right away and get started with their tubs. They take care of it all independently! Then what do I do? Sip my coffee and lounge? Ha- I wish! Seriously, I can check folders. Listen to students tell me about “l

Have dice? Easy and reusable math stations!!

Math stations made easy! These math stations have been prepped and are ready to be used! I stored mine in the rainbow photo storage box from Michael's. It could just as easily be stored in pencil boxes or ziplock bags! They are reusable and can be differentiated. I love having math stations that I can just put out with minimal preparations and meet the standards for first grade! Mini Math Task Stations  are available in my TpT store!

I cannot wait to start sharing all of the teaching tips! I hope that you will follow along with me while I start at my brand new school! The school is opening this fall.  It will be my 15th year of teaching, but first time ever at a brand new school! I have the back to school jitters big time this year. Here's a sneak peak into my room!
